lexicon feat. genevia s. wylie

i weep behind the mask
weakness inspired design
hate my reflection in the glass
i am at times what i despise
distortions they are my own request
external forces altering consciousness
all the battles up to now have led to this
the war between this ego and me.

created,
felt light,
emerged took flight
forgot who i was to be
ignoring all signs
pointing to pain in sight

i fell
landed here
face first
kissed dirt
on earth
now evil it lurks
approaching me at every turn

groping blindly in the midnight
fingers reaching out
to hit the switch
that’ll flip this script
and take me back to light
back to reality
back to life
who i was meant to be

like Eve i was to be
took an apple off that tree
cleaned it off
nibbled quickly
foolishly thinking it couldn’t affect me.
but now snakes and demons seem to surround me
and i sit troubled by my own immorality

puzzled by the inequity i hide
i want to build a virtuous woman inside
heal my wings
resume my flight
soar and glide
back into life
back into reality
back into life
to where i’m gonna be...

            she’s working an equation
            she’s working night and day
            she’s working an equation
she don’t care what you say,

            “what about the problems?
            what about the pay?
            what about the problems?
            what about the pay?”

            she’s working an equation
            she’s working night and day
            she’s working an equation
she don’t care what you say,

            “what about the problems?
            what about the pay?
            what about the problems?
            what about the pay?”

            daylight streaming, through everything
            nothing can take away
            the power that it brings.
